How to Write a Notice to Vacate

Writing a proper notice to vacate requires attention to legal requirements specific to your state and lease type. Follow these steps to ensure your notice is legally valid and protects your rights whether you are a landlord or tenant.

Check your state's landlord-tenant laws and your lease agreement to determine the minimum notice period required.
