What Does "Sale" Mean Under CCPA?

Under the CCPA, "sale" is broadly defined and includes disclosing, making available, or transferring personal information to third parties for monetary or other valuable consideration. This may include:

  • Sharing information with advertising partners to deliver targeted advertisements
  • Disclosing information to analytics companies that provide marketing insights
  • Transferring information to data brokers or similar entities

Our Data Sharing Practices

Document.com LLC is committed to transparency about our data practices. Here is how we handle your information:

If You Are Not a Registered User

If you have not created an account with Document, we collect limited information about you (such as cookies and device information for website functionality and analytics) and do not "sell" this information as defined under the CCPA.

If You Are a Registered User

If you have created an account with Document, we may share certain information we collect about you with advertising partners and technology companies to provide you with more relevant advertising tailored to your interests. This type of data sharing may be considered a "sale" under the CCPA.

Categories of personal information that may be shared include:

  • Identifiers (such as name, email address, IP address)
  • Internet or network activity (such as browsing history and interactions with our Platform)
  • Geolocation data (general location derived from IP address)
  • Inferences about preferences and characteristics

How to Opt Out

You have the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information at any time. To exercise this right, you can:

Submit Your Opt-Out Request

We will verify your request using the email address associated with your Document account. If you don't have an account, we will attempt to verify your identity through other means.

You can also submit your opt-out request by:

  • Email: Send your request to [email protected] with the subject line "Do Not Sell My Personal Information"

What Happens After You Opt Out

Once we receive and verify your opt-out request:

  • We will stop selling your personal information to third parties within 15 business days
  • We will send you a confirmation email when your request has been processed
  • You can continue to use our Platform without any reduction in service quality
  • We may still share your information with service providers who help us operate our business (this is not considered a "sale" under CCPA)

Authorized Agents

You may designate an authorized agent to submit an opt-out request on your behalf. If you use an authorized agent, we may require:

  • Written permission signed by you authorizing the agent to act on your behalf
  • Verification of your identity directly with us

Authorized agents may submit requests to [email protected].
